On the eastern side of San Jose, a more prominent US AQI figure of 51 was seen on the air quality map, placing that area into the 'moderate' pollution bracket, indicating higher levels of smoke, haze, or hazardous particles in the air. This is the best possible ranking that can be achieved, however, improvements could be made, as the closer the US AQI figure is to 0, the better. Readings of 2, 5, 12, and 28 were all recorded, placing these areas on the air quality map (along with many others) into the 'good' air quality rating bracket. These readings are of course relative, and due to the overall better level of air quality in the U.K (with exceptions in certain areas and during certain times of the year), slight elevations should be noted as being abnormal.

Lots of wild flowers are blooming right now. It took me awhile to go up the hill, but once road changes elevation it was very easy to walk downhill. This place used to have great retreats with sulfur baths. The stores are high end variety and there is plenty of police presence in the area making one feel safe.Īlum rock avenue is great entrance to the Alum Rock Park, San Jose, CA. On one of the side streets there are beautiful colorful wooden doors which were imported from Europe across from the “Welcome to Santana Row” mural. At one end of the pedestrian promenade there is a large shady tree and a large wooden deck with comfy armchairs with bright orange cushions for people to sit on, have a glass of wine/beer or listen to music when entertainers are present. There is lots of outdoor musical entertainment and it has the best vibe. It is landscaped beautifully with lush baskets of flowers much like the pacific northwest. It reminds me a lot of Barcelona, Spain with its mosaic tile bollards at each end of the pedestrian-only portion of the pedestrian promenade which is closed to through traffic as well as the sidewalk cafes and flamenco music we heard there on our first evening there while dining which was magical! The outdoor promenade is a lovely area to stroll, hang out, shop or eat.

With its shopkeepers/living units on the upper stories, this mall is quite unique in its design. It is truly one of the most beautiful malls I’ve been to in the USA. We were staying at a nearby hotel for a few weeks for a special family occasion and spent a lot of time at this mall.
